Keeping Infectious and Communicable Diseases Away is So Easy!

Germs are everywhere around us, invading us, causing infections and spreading diseases. The best way to stop them from giving us infections is to wash our hands with soap and water regularly.
Simply put, hand washing is the hygiene habit of cleaning one’s hands with soap and water or another liquid for the purpose of removing germs, dirt and soil. Here are a few reasons facts about why hand washing is important:

It is the most effective way of preventing infectious diseases and illnesses.
It is the first line of defense against germs.
It is the cheapest and simplest method to stop germs from spreading.
It saves more lives than any single vaccine or medical intervention.
It is easy, effective and affordable for everybody.

Our hands carry germs even when they appear clean because we use them for most of the things we do. We touch and shake others with our hands. We also touch contaminated objects, animals, surfaces etc., and then touch our eyes, noses, mouths, ears and other parts of our bodies with these same contaminated hands. This is how we spread germs to ourselves and others.

Regular hand washing at appropriate times can have a positive impact on your health and reduce visits to the doctor. Teaching children to wash hands is very important because they are highly susceptible to infections and are at the same time, good agents of change.

If you have not been washing your hands regularly and at appropriate times, it is time to change. Your health is the biggest measure of your wealth.
