Hibiscus is a bushy plant that grows in warm areas of the world. It is known as zobo, soborodo, red sorrel, rosella, wonjo etc. Hibiscus tea is a sour tea that is made by infusing the calyxes of the flower
in hot water. Drinking hibiscus tea has numerous health advantages and has been gaining popularity recently although it has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties in parts of Asia and Africa. Hibiscus flower calyxes have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory active components which are responsible for its health benefits. 

 Listed below are a few of the benefits of drinking hibiscus tea for health;

·         Reduces Blood Pressure; drinking about 750ml of hibiscus tea
       daily for about two months has been shown to lower blood                pressure.
·         Supports Heart Health.
·         Lowers Cholesterol.

·         Contains astrigents which can help to control excessive                 bleeding.

Hibiscus tea is prepared by simply steeping 5 calyxes in 250ml water or 15 calyxes in 750ml water for about 5 minutes. Drinking hibiscus tea to replace normal black tea will definitely provide you with a lot of ingredients needed for good health.
