Detoxifying and Refreshing Smoothies


Detoxification, detox or body cleanse simply means removing toxins from body or cleaning the blood, liver, kidneys, colon, intestines, skin and lymph. Detoxifying is one of the important steps to a healthy body.




We generally identify detox with using substances that make us poo several times when ingested and this can discourage one from carrying out a detox program often. You can detox yourself gently and daily with fruits because they are packed with healing properties and low in calories.

A smoothie is a thick drink made by blending raw fruits. You may also grate the fruits you are using.
Here are two smoothie recipes, using fruits you can easily get especially in Nigeria.

Smoothie Recipe 1
½ a medium sized watermelon
½ a medium sized pawpaw
½ a medium sized pineapple
10 limes or lemons
5 oranges

Smoothie Recipe 2
3 grapefruits
½ medium sized watermelon
5 beetroots
10 limes or lemons
2 apples

You may add other fruits as you wish. Beetroots and citrus fruits are best juiced. These drinks are low in calories and can replace dinner especially for those trying to lose weight.
