At one time or another, we all experience itching on the
skin. Itching is a sensation on the skin that creates the need to scratch. Itching
is a symptom of many conditions such as bites, stings, allergies, eczema,
infections, dry skin etc. Sometimes the need to scratch is so great that the
skin will peel. There are many creams that can be used to treat the irritation
but here are some natural preparations that are also effective.
Aloe
Vera: Apply the gel directly to the affected area. Aloe has
anti-inflammatory, antifungal and
antibacterial properties.

Neem or Dogonyaro: Make an infusion of the leaves and add to your bath
water. You may also apply this or the oil to the itch.
Basil: Make an infusion of the leaves, cool and use the
liquid on the affected area.
Baking Soda: Make a thick paste and apply to the affected
area.
Lemon: Apply some lemon juice or oil to the itch.
Thyme: Make an infusion of some dried leaves to apply to the
itchy area.
Mint: Make an infusion to apply to the itch.
Cloves: Use the oil of cloves.
Chickweed: Make a hot water infusion with some, allow the
infusion to cool and apply to the skin.
Tea Tree Oil: This oil provides immediate relief when
applied to the affected area.
Eating foods that have a high content of Vitamin C and E
help in relieving this condition. Topical application of natural oils and balm
with Vitamin E also provides relief. A cold compress to the affected area is
good for relief.
If your itchy skin continues to worsen, seek medical
attention.
