Cold sores are uncomfortable and painful blisters on or
around the lips which are caused by the herpes simplex virus. They are also
called fever blisters or sores, mouth sore or lip sores. The first symptom of a cold sore is itching
and tingling in the affected area, followed by the appearance of blisters which
exude fluids and then the blisters dry and form scabs. Most cold sores clear up
on their own within 7 to 14 days of discomfort and pain.
Once the herpes simplex virus has been contracted, it can
lie dormant for long periods of time to reoccur when the body immunity is low,

the highly contagious virus to other parts of
the body and further infect the
sores with other microbes like bacteria. Preventing the occurrence of cold
sores is important. Avoid factors that contribute to stress and low immunity
