African Salad Is So Delicious And Rich In Nutrients For Health.


African salad is a delicacy prepared by the people of Eastern Nigeria. It is known in Igbo as abacha ncha or abacha and ugba. It is served as a meal, snack or side dish at home, restaurants or parties. It is also sold by hawkers especially in markets.

African salad has so much in terms of nutrients and can be classified as a healing meal. This is because:

  • Garden eggs fruits and leaves.
  • Utazi leaves (Gongronema latifonum)
  • Uziza leaves. (African black pepper)
  • Calabash nutmeg.
  • Powdered potash. (Kaun, akaun)
  • Ogiri or iru.

African salad ingredients are sure to provide carbohydrates, proteins, healthy oils, dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients with healing properties like antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ones.
