I always feel so saddened when I learn about women losing their lives due to uncontrollable
bleeding after the delivery of a child. These women are mostly young ladies doing
what God has naturally endowed and created women to do, procreating. Should
the reward be death or suffering?
Postpartum hemorrhage is a condition in which some women
bleed too much after giving birth to a child. In medicine, this is recognized and
diagnosed when a women loses more than 500ml of blood. This excessive blood
loss is one of the leading causes of death in Nigerian women.
Some of the causes of postpartum hemorrhage are:
- Retained placenta.
- Failure of the womb muscles to contract strongly enough.
One way to help is to use herbs with astringent properties.
It is a well-known fact that herbs with astringent properties act directly on
body tissues by shrinking them and thereby reduce all secretions including
blood. You can make infusions of one or
a combination of the following herbs, fruits and leaves which will reduce the
bleeding right away.
- Cashew bark.
- Hibiscus flower petals ((dried).
- Mango leaves
- Lemons and limes.
- Raspberry leaves.
- Rose petals.
- Oak bark.
- Shepherd’s purse leaves, flowers or seeds.
- Witch hazel leaves or bark.
- Motherwort leaves.
- Blue cohosh root.
- Yarrow flower.
To aid the womb in expelling a retained placenta, here are a
few herbs you can prepare to use;
Since most times, one never knows how labour and childbirth
will turn out, it is best to have infusions or herbs that can help ready. Most
herbs that are available in your locality will be cheap or free and preparing
them is easy and straight forward. They do not involve any rituals or anything
spiritual please. When using herbal preparations, always start with low dosages
and increase following outcomes.
Please don’t fold your arms helplessly in case you encounter
a situation like this, you can help with ease. That precious and beautiful woman
does not need to suffer or die please. Give her a good medical intervention or
assistance with natural plants around you. There are so many herbs to use. Remember
that in the days of our forefathers plants were used for healing.
