African salad is a delicacy prepared by the people of Eastern
Nigeria. It is known in Igbo as abacha ncha or abacha and ugba. It is served as a meal, snack or side dish at
home, restaurants or parties. It is also sold by hawkers especially in markets.
African salad has so much in terms of nutrients and can be classified
as a healing meal. This is because:
- It is made from many ingredients
- Most of the ingredients are in their raw form.

- Calabash nutmeg.
- Powdered potash. (Kaun, akaun)
- Ogiri or iru.
African salad ingredients are sure to provide carbohydrates,
