Plant A Tree Today And Reduce Global Warming.

Image result for trees by the roadsideHere in Lagos, we are complaining daily about how hot it is! The rain should be falling regularly here now to bring relief but it seems like the factors that bring rain are not present.
I’m here wondering why we are complaining about how hot it is and the absence of rain when Lagos is almost a desert. Where are the trees that or plants that create forests or even savannahs? They have slowly disappeared over the years to be replaced by buildings and pavements.

We need to start planting trees around us. Don’t mind that the leaves are going to litter your surrounding at one time or the other. Trees provide so many benefits. Trees have more value than we can imagine. Trees are one of the important factors which can reduce global warming. Below are some ways that trees help us;

  • Trees provide oxygen, so having more trees means that we get more oxygen.
  • Trees absorb carbon dioxide and so more trees absorb more carbon dioxide that we do not need.
  • Trees reduce the heat of the sun and so reduce cooling costs.
  • Trees improve air quality and so give fresh air.
  • Trees reduce erosion.
  • Trees reduce pollution.
  • Trees give us shelter, medicine, food and so much more for as long as they live.
  • Trees help to conserve water.
  • Even dead trees and fallen leaves provide compost that further enrich the soil.
  • Trees give a feeling of serenity and calm.
  • Trees increase the aesthetic appeal of your surrounding.

This is not a project for the government alone. We must plant trees if we want to save our planet and make it a better place for us to live in.

Plant a tree today and help to make the world better!
