Cameroon pepper is a variety of Capsicum chinense that is
widely used in Nigeria to cook due to its exceptional heat and unique flavour.
It is also called Nsukka pepper and Ghana pepper in West Africa and yellow
lantern chili in English-speaking markets.
Cameroon pepper is yellow in colour when fresh but turns
brown when dried. Like all peppers, Cameroon pepper contains capsaicin, an
active component that is responsible for its hotness and most of its medicinal
properties. Though it is commonly used for culinary purposes, Cameroon pepper
has the following medicinal properties;
